Challenge

Initially, the IXO team relied on traditional carbon fiber processing techniques when handling high-end custom orders. These methods were time-consuming, complex, and lacked precision, requiring multiple mold iterations and sample testing. IXO sought a technology that could streamline this complicated manufacturing process.

Custom Solutions, Effortlessly Delivered

Taking this opportunity, Flashforge began its collaboration with IXO, introducing flexible manufacturing of carbon fiber composite materials. The Flashforge Guider 3 Ultra 3D printer, an industrial-grade high-performance machine, features a high-strength nozzle and can reach temperatures up to 350°C. It supports a range of carbon fiber composite materials, including PLA-CF, PETG-CF, PAHT-CF, PAHT-GF, PET-CF, PET-GF, PA12-GF, PA-CF, PA-GF, and NexPA-CF25, while offering a large print area of 330x330x600mm. These key features perfectly align with IXO’s custom needs.

Practical application, the effect is good

In custom projects, the Flashforge Guider 3 Ultra brought a variety of manufacturing advantages, helping IXO significantly reduce costs and improve efficiency.

Reduced Material Waste: The Guider 3 Ultra directly extrudes molten carbon fiber composites through its high-temperature nozzle, printing design files into tangible items with minimal material waste. For example, the Bugatti pool table holes printed on the Guider 3 Ultra were created in one go, whereas traditional manufacturing methods would require cutting and machining raw materials, leading to more waste of edge materials.

Mold-Free Rapid Production: With the Guider 3 Ultra, IXO gained mold-free production capabilities. By simply using design files, they can quickly print and form prototypes, then proceed with structural and functional testing, or even directly use the parts. This process greatly shortens production cycles and is ideal for small-batch custom items.

Flexible Custom Production: IXO’s high-end custom orders often vary in type and quantity. Traditional mass production processes can be costly for these varied orders. The Guider 3 Ultra can quickly adapt to changing orders or client demands, allowing for fast, flexible production.

End-Use Parts: For custom non-standard parts, such as the fixing devices between pool table boards shown in the images, the Guider 3 Ultra can directly print and apply them based on design files. These carbon fiber composite parts offer excellent bending resistance, tensile strength, and high-temperature resistance, meeting the demands for securing the pool table boards.

Exceptional Print Quality: The carbon fiber composite models printed with the Guider 3 Ultra have smooth surface finishes and high dimensional accuracy. This enhances the integration with carbon fiber fabric, improving the overall efficiency of the manufacturing process.
